Is this the right class for us?

Obedience with a Twist is ideal for owners and dogs who have already established good foundation skills and are looking to continue developing their partnership through fun, practical and engaging training.
For many New Beginnings clients, it's the natural next step after completing a Puppy or Adolescent Course and gaining experience through 'WalkOuts'.
If you're new to New Beginnings, don't worry. Simply get in touch and tell me a little about your dog and any previous training experience.  If I think another service would provide a better starting point, I'll always tell you honestly.

Forget what you think an obedience class looks like...

Obedience with a Twist has been designed to challenge both dogs and owners through a wide variety of fun, engaging and practical activities that develop real-life skills whilst strengthening the partnership between you and your dog.
Every session is different. One week you may be navigating obstacle courses, the next working around distractions, practising steadiness, refining your handling skills or fine-tuning communication between you and your dog.
The 'twist' often remains a surprise until you arrive, keeping every session fresh, enjoyable and full of variety.
Whilst there are always plenty of laughs along the way, every activity has a purpose. Each challenge has been carefully designed to improve communication, strengthen teamwork and help you and your dog become an even better partnership.
Although you'll be training as part of a small group, every owner-and-dog team is on their own Learning Journey. Every exercise can be adapted to suit the individual team in front of me. If one dog is ready for a more advanced version of an exercise, we'll progress them. If another needs a little more time, that's absolutely fine too. My aim is always to provide the right level of challenge for every owner-and-dog team, building confidence and success at a pace that's right for them.

Where You'll Train

Most Obedience with a Twist sessions take place at my own outdoor training facilities, where I can carefully design each session and introduce a wide variety of imaginative challenges in a safe and controlled environment.
One of the many benefits of training with New Beginnings is also having access to my own dedicated indoor training facilities. So, if the weather has other ideas, the learning simply continues indoors.

How It Works

Obedience with a Twist is offered on a Pay As You Go basis, giving you the flexibility to attend as often as you wish. Every session is different, and sessions are booked through the New Beginnings booking app.  If you are new to New Beginnings Dog Training, get in contact and I'll give you access to this App.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to attend every session?

No. Each session is self-contained, allowing you to attend whenever it suits you.

Will every session be different?

Absolutely! The activities change regularly to keep both dogs and owners engaged, challenged and enjoying their training together.

Can dogs that are reactive or worried around other dogs attend?

Possibly—and I'd always be happy to discuss your individual circumstances before you book.
Although Obedience with a Twist is delivered in a small group setting, each owner-and-dog team works individually, rather than everyone carrying out the same exercise at the same time.
Whilst some exercises involve working around other dogs, every owner-and-dog team is afforded their own personal space. Exercises are carefully planned and managed to ensure dogs aren't pushed beyond what they're comfortable with, and every activity can be adapted to suit where both you and your dog are on your Learning Journey.
