Bringing home a puppy is exciting, rewarding and sometimes a little overwhelming.
My Puppy Course is designed to guide both you and your puppy through those important first few months together, helping you build the right foundations from the very beginning.
It's about far more than teaching commands. It's about helping your puppy understand how to live happily and confidently in our human world, whilst giving you the knowledge and confidence to guide them every step of the way.

Every puppy is different, and so is every family.
Some owners are welcoming their very first puppy and are looking for guidance from day one. Others have owned dogs before but recognise that every puppy is an individual and deserves the very best start in life.
Learning within a small group gives your puppy valuable opportunities to experience other puppies in a carefully managed environment, whilst giving you the chance to ask questions, share experiences and learn alongside owners going through exactly the same stage.
You'll also become part of a friendly community of owners experiencing the same exciting (and sometimes exhausting!) puppy journey.
And you'll quickly discover you're certainly not the only one asking a particular question!

Where Your Puppy Will Learn

One of the many benefits of training with New Beginnings Dog Training is access to my own dedicated indoor training facilities, allowing sessions to continue whatever the weather.
However, where your puppy learns is just as important as what they learn.

WEEKS 1–3 – BUILDING THE FOUNDATIONS

The first three sessions take place indoors in a calm, low-distraction environment. This is completely intentional. Before puppies can successfully cope with the excitement and unpredictability of the real world, they first need to understand what is being asked of them. By removing unnecessary distractions, puppies learn more quickly, owners gain confidence, and together we build the understanding, communication and relationship that every owner and puppy need before progressing further.

WEEKS 4–6 – TAKING TRAINING INTO THE REAL WORLD

Once those foundations are firmly established, the final three sessions move into carefully selected real-life environments. Here you'll learn how to transfer everything your puppy has already understood into everyday life, gradually introducing the sights, sounds and distractions they'll encounter as they grow.
This progressive approach helps prevent puppies becoming what I jokingly refer to as 'village hall trained dogs'—dogs who work beautifully in class but appear to forget everything the moment they step outside!
Instead, you'll finish the course with a puppy who is beginning to understand that the same communication, guidance and expectations apply wherever life takes you together.

How the Course Works

Keeping class sizes to a maximum of five puppies means every owner-and-puppy partnership receives plenty of individual guidance whilst still benefiting from learning alongside others in a friendly and supportive environment.
Learning doesn't stop when the session finishes.
Homework tasks, videos and ongoing support through your dedicated Course Bubble WhatsApp Group help you continue progressing between sessions and make the most of every stage of your puppy's development.
Your Course Bubble is also somewhere to ask questions, celebrate successes, share progress and support one another throughout the course.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the whole family attend?

Absolutely. Everyone involved in your puppy's upbringing is encouraged to attend whenever possible so your puppy receives clear and consistent guidance from everyone at home.

What if I miss a session?

Because each session builds on the previous one, it's important that the whole group progresses together wherever possible. If you know you're unable to attend, simply let me know through your dedicated Course Bubble WhatsApp Group. Wherever possible, I'll arrange for you to catch up so neither you nor your puppy fall behind.

My puppy is a little nervous. Is this the right course?

Yes. Every puppy develops at their own pace. My aim is never to overwhelm puppies but to build confidence through carefully managed introductions, positive experiences and appropriate social interactions.

What happens after the course finishes?

One of the biggest misconceptions about puppies is that training finishes once puppy classes end. In reality, puppyhood simply lays the foundations. As your puppy grows into adolescence, new challenges naturally appear. Many owners continue their journey through New Beginnings PAYG sessions including WalkOuts, Obedience with a Twist, Mind & Movement, ABC / Agility, Scent Detection and Tracking. Together we'll help you choose the next step that's right for both you and your dog.
