The People behind New Beginnings Dog Training

New Beginnings Dog Training was built around one simple belief...

Dog training should strengthen the relationship between owner and dog, not damage it.

Every owner-and-dog team is unique, which is why there is no 'one size fits all' approach. Whether you're joining us with a brand-new puppy, navigating the challenges of adolescence or simply looking to enjoy life with your dog even more, our aim is always the same – helping you understand one another and build a partnership based on trust, communication, manners and respect.

Founder of New Beginnings Dog Training - Jo (Joanne) Lawrence

Following almost 30 years as a Police Officer including 20 as a Police Dog Handler , Jo founded New Beginnings Dog Training to help owners better understand their dogs and enjoy life together.

Jo has 4 of her own dogs who regularly assist as demonstration dogs during classes.

Although you'll often see Jo leading the training sessions, New Beginnings has always been a team effort.......

Meet Chris Morse - B.Sc. Hons, CertEd, Dip Canine Massage  (distinction)

Chris has spent a lifetime working with dogs and has taught and competed at a high level in Obedience, Agility and Heelwork to Music.

All of Chris' own dogs have been 'rehomers' , and she talks about them being the very best teachers over the years!

Chris plays an important part in ensuring owners always receive the high level of support New Beginnings is known for.
Together, we share the same passion for helping owners better understand their dogs and enjoy life together.

One of the things I'm most proud of at New Beginnings isn't just the training........it's the community we've built.
Whether you choose a 1:2:1 or one of my group learning experiences, you'll be welcomed into a friendly community of like-minded owners who all share the same goal – building an even better relationship with their dogs.
Many owners arrive knowing nobody.
Very quickly they realise they're surrounded by people experiencing many of the same challenges, asking similar questions and celebrating exactly the same successes.
That encouragement, reassurance and shared experience often becomes just as valuable as the training itself.

The New Beginnings WhatsApp Community

Support doesn't stop when the session ends.
All New Beginnings clients are invited to become part of the New Beginnings WhatsApp Community, helping everyone stay connected between sessions and continue learning together.

  • Weekly class schedules and booking links.

  • A dedicated clients' forum where members can ask questions, share ideas and support one another.

  • Recommendations for trusted dog-related products and services.

  • The opportunity to buy and sell dog-related items.

  • Celebration of successes, milestones and achievements.

  • Ongoing support and encouragement from both Jo and fellow members.

Many owners arrive looking for a dog trainer...
Many leave having gained not only a better relationship with their dog, but also new friendships and a supportive community that continues long after their first class.
